Artist's Description

The grand Blue Mosque in Istanbul was built early in the 17th century and is considered to be the last great mosque of the classical period of Ottoman Empire. This incredible ceiling of domes and pilars is constructed from over 20,000 handmade ceramic tiles made in floral designs in the city of Iznik (Nicea).

Sally Ross retired from the University of Georgia Department of Language and Literacy, after many wonderful years of working with Georgia English teachers. She now thrives on travel, hiking, golf, and photography, making Scotland the perfect destination for several months every summer.
