I wandered slowly with my camera as the sun set in central Paris. At the perfect hour I caught the towers of le Palais de Justice over the Pont au Change. This bridge crosses the Seine and connects the Île de la Cité to the Right Bank, and interestingly, this is the bridge from which Javert throws himself in Les Mis. Previously full of shops specializing in gold, the current bridge was constructed from 1858 to 1860, during the reign of Napoleon III, and bears his imperial insignia.
Sally Ross retired from the University of Georgia Department of Language and Literacy, after many wonderful years of working with Georgia English teachers. She now thrives on travel, hiking, golf, and photography, making Scotland the perfect destination for several months every summer.
