Out at dawn to find what I could shoot after a rainy night, I pulled to the side of the road when these trees emerged from the backlit Georgia fog. I hope the silhouetted shot reveals the silence of that moment just before the impending morning would wash the scene in the noise of details. This is a classic black and white image, but also an example of backlit or �contre-jour� photography.
Sally Ross retired from the University of Georgia Department of Language and Literacy, after many wonderful years of working with Georgia English teachers. She now thrives on travel, hiking, golf, and photography, making Scotland the perfect destination for several months every summer.
