For breathtaking adventure from the top of a mountain, looking forever out over a forest of karst stalagmites, take the hours long walk above Zhangjiajie through the Wulingyuan Scenic Area in Hunan Province. The path is safe (though there were times like this when I considered hanging my own prayer flag!), and the views are spectacular.

Sally Ross retired from the University of Georgia Department of Language and Literacy, after many wonderful years of working with Georgia English teachers. She now thrives on travel, hiking, golf, and photography, making Scotland the perfect destination for several months every summer.
