An April 2013 storm encouraged surfers to hit the beach. But the lighting effects here in South Carolina, along this Hilton Head shore, gave proof that it would be a big one. Reds created an otherworldly effect that I have altered very little in this image.

Sally Ross retired from the University of Georgia Department of Language and Literacy, after many wonderful years of working with Georgia English teachers. She now thrives on travel, hiking, golf, and photography, making Scotland the perfect destination for several months every summer.
