Artist's Description
One my most "painterly" pieces. I love the movement across the canvas of light, shadow, walls and clouds. The two trees obviously represent shadows of one another as well. To me, the greatest beauties of Scotland and Northern England are the endless rock walls, hand-crafted without mortar in most cases. They arise from the earth so they don't offend as fences do. But they give measure and a sense of mystery. I always wonder: who built these walls and how long ago?
About Sally Ross
Sally Ross retired from the University of Georgia Department of Language and Literacy, after many wonderful years of working with Georgia English teachers. She now thrives on travel, hiking, golf, and photography, making Scotland the perfect destination for several months every summer. Sally has always been a photographer, but creating fine art photography has now become a passion, a profession, and a path to learning and personal expression. “My work,” she says, “is often described as painterly, an effect I strive to achieve through my eye as an artist, my sense of composition, and my knowledge and use of the camera as a creative tool.
